Boardvisory was Launched in 2019 by Joy-Marie Lawrence, to focus on one thing only – unlocking exceptional board performance.

Joy-Marie Lawrence has spent more than 20 years in the boardroom in a variety of executive and non-executive roles. She has chaired boards in the investment, science and technology, legal, education and healthcare sectors, and coached and mentored executive directors, non-executive directors and leaders from across the private sector, public sector and civil society.

Joy-Marie’s wide range of legal, governance and business experience is complemented by an array of academic qualifications. These include an Executive MBA (cum laude) from the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business, an LLM degree (Wits University), an LLB degree (University of Cape Town), and a BA degree (University of Cape Town).

She is certified as a Chartered Director SA by the Institute of Directors of South Africa (IoDSA), has been a Fellow of the IoDSA since 2009, and is internationally accredited by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) as a Professional Certified Coach.
